Do I Need a 3D Model?

Bottango contains basic modeling tools. If you’re learning Bottango, you should use the built-in modeling tools to create structures. The goal is not to make a perfect digital twin of your real-world robot, but instead to make something just accurate enough that you have the controls you need to animate.

Though Bottango supports importing external 3D Models, it’s a workflow that’s recommended only once you’ve gained a strong grasp on the fundamentals of Bottango.

Structures and Joints make the 3D simulation in Bottango a core part of the Bottango workflow. That being said, it is optional. Sometimes, just to get quick movement on your robot, you may want to animate motors directly. If it’s right for you, you can skip all the 3D simulation side of Bottango, and just directly animate motors in the animation view.
